Has anyone seen the article on Yahoo about how Olive Garden plans on giving their restaurants an overhaul due to bad sales? I read through it and I couldn't agree with the criticism more.
I went to Olive Garden for the first time over winter break because my mom wanted to use a gift card she received. I was really unimpressed and don't plan on going back anytime soon. Here are some reasons why I think Olive Garden is lagging behind other chain italian restaurants and below are some things I think they can do to fix their issues:
Problem: The lighting inside is too bright. It feels very sterile.
Solution: Dim the lights to make the atmosphere cozier and more comfortable.
Problem: I usually don't even notice the chairs at restaurants but the ones at OG stuck out to me because they have wheels on them. Tacky! Are we too lazy to push ourselves in/out from the table?
Yuck.
Solution: Chairs that do not roll.
A plain, simple wooden chair would look so much better!
Problem: The food tastes bland.
Solution: Add more flavor and fresher ingredients (basil, parsley, etc) to the menu items. People are willing to pay more for high-quality food.
Problem: Not a lot of healthy options
Solution: Add in some more menu items without the heavy cream sauce.
What does everyone else think about Olive Garden? Love it? Hate it? Agree/disagree with any of my opinions?

My biggest problem with Olive Garden is that I have never been in one that wasn't incredibly loud. You have to literally yell to be heard by someone right next to you. I agree about the food as well. The salad and bread sticks are ok, but the rest is mediocre at best and pretty expensive to boot.
ReplyDeleteThe noise is something I forgot to mention but it's definitely an issue. Thanks for stopping by!
