I've written before about my love of biking, and on Saturday my brother and I went on our second annual bike trip to Hawthorne. The bike ride is about 40 miles round trip and it's a lot of fun.

The official trail starts on the dotted line at Boulware Springs Park in Gville and ends at the Hawthorne Trailhead on the right side of the picture. There's a couple of hills where I feel like I'm peddling for my life, but the majority of it is smooth and flat.
Last year when we went for the first time, it was a chilly 65F and I wore a jacket, gloves, and sweatpants.
This time around it was a warm 75F and I wore shorts! Love it!
On the way back towards Gainesville, we saw a huge fire burning off of 441 south of campus. Little did we know that by the next morning, over 60 acres would be burned and the smoke from the fire would cause multiple fatal accidents early Sunday morning.

Biking this trail took us about 4.5 hours round trip. I would want bring my iPod next time to keep me motivated during those last couple of torturous miles, but this was definitely the highlight of my Saturday.
Anybody else do something fun outside this weekend?

I just called my Gainesville friends to make sure they were okay. That story was so terrifying and sad, I can't imagine!
