Lately, I've been trying to grow out my hair. The only problem is that my hair is so thick that it's unbearable if I wear it down all day! I've always been a ponytail girl because it's so low maintenance, but I wanted to experiment and find an alternative that was more stylish yet still kept hair up and out of my face. Braids have become my solution. They're easy to do and they can last all day.
After looking around online at different pictures for inspiration, I thought it would be fun to teach myself a braiding style different from the traditional one just to mix things up. The fishtail braid looked really cool so I immediately wanted to try that one.
Ooh la la. It looked like it would be really hard to do, but Lauren Conrad (from Laguna Beach, The Hills, etc) recently co-created a beauty site last year and she made a great fishtail braid tutorial. I decided to try it out.
Now for the results. Here is what it looks like after I did the braid, but before I took the top elastic out:

The finished product!
Overall, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be and it only took about five minutes to complete. With more practice, I think I will be able to do it faster and make it look neater at the top! I'm so excited I have a new way to style my hair.

this gives me inspiration to finally try it in my hair!
